about

Hot on the heels of ‘Vishva EP’ (Part I), comes ‘Part II’ of this special release from Petit Beurre on Motech Records. ‘Vishva EP’ (Part II) continues where the first left off, filling you with more rounds of Detroit/ Chicago influenced techno soul that is not only extremely perfect for the summer season of terrace techno, but also a nod to the classics that made techno truly synonymous with Detroit.

Austrian natives Christoph and Christoph, who collectively make up Petit Beurre are on creative overdrive right now, and this EP steps up the vibe from the last release with another five super tracks. There’s ‘Surya’- filled with classic stabs and a funky SH-101 Bass. Warm Strings for the flight and an analog synth lead for zero gravity! On the track titled ‘Rahu’, Petit Beurre add; “This track combines three things we really like – classic synth stabs a Reese-like bass and a never changing beat, influenced by some Michael Jackson track arrangements that have inspired us”. On ‘Yamdev’, (which is our favourite at Motech) Petit Beurre say: “The first sketch was just the chord line and the pad progressions; but it felt like an intro/outro track; then we thought it could profit from an old-school Detroit bongo beat, in the end we played the synthline live over it”. We say, the result is the highlight of the ‘Vishva EP’ series, and something of a Detroit classic in the making! ‘Budah’ brings more of playful vibe, with offbeat bass and short strings, whilst ‘Mangala’ blends monophonic synth-sound into occasional chords, resulting in a live Jazz vibe to the track, which the Petit Beurre boys refer to as ‘a happy accident’.

Petit Beurre and Motech Records do it again with this, another superb release. Be sure to listen to each and every undeniably quality production. Detroit techno couldn’t feel much better than this.
