about

Presenting Sälis, previously a Japan only release:

The definition of solace/sälis can be interpreted differently from person to person. Some seek solace in absolute silence, while others can find it in the midst of chaos. People will travel thousands of miles, across land and sea, chasing the idea of their own personal solace. Some find it, others never do and carry on chasing it for the rest of their lives.

A few years ago, DJ 3000 found himself leaving Europe and heading back to Detroit. What was not readily apparent at the time was that Detroit was going to be his place of solace. And from that solace, comes his latest full length release on Motech Records. Salis is a collection of tracks produced upon and since DJ 3000s return to Detroit, and the influence of being back home, and in a place of solace, is readily apparent.

Traces of DJ 3000s original Motech releases can be heard with renewed urgency and a new brand of funk on tracks like "2booli" and "Lute", while tracks such as 'Do that Dance" and "The Right of Passage" are true to Detroit electronic roots.

Ultimately Salis is a sonic record of DJ 3000s rediscovered solace in a place we are all familiar with, home.
