about

Mark Fanciulli joins the Motech roster in the Detroit label’s 15th anniversary year.

It may come as a surprise to learn that Mark Fanciulli only made his debut in 2011 with ‘The Tide’ on Joris Voorn’s Rejected. He has since gone on to release on labels like Saved, Defected, Truesoul, Intec, his own Between 2 Points and possibly most notably Carl Craig’s Planet E where he followed 2014’s ‘Chord Kaoss’ with last year’s ‘Progression EP’. What will be of no surprise to followers of his work is that this young producer from Maidstone in Kent (UK) has already developed such a strong international fan base, whether it’s for his tracks that inhabit a creative nether region between House and Techno or his engaging DJ sets, which have taken him across some of the world’s biggest clubs and festival stages. Alongside his passion for, and dedication to, the dance, Mark has a soft spot for radio. His monthly Between 2 Points radio show has a huge following and has so far played host to the likes of Slam, Octave One, Mark Broom, Vince Watson, Roman Lindau and Motech’s label head, DJ 3000 to name just a few.

And so, to continue this creative friendship, Fanciulli delivers two new tracks for Motech, backed by remixes from DJ 3000 himself plus Motech regular and fellow Motor City resident, Mazepa. Mark’s original version of ‘Deviation’ is a jackin’ and tracky beast with its brutal bass, off-kilter keys and funked-up drum work. DJ 3000 comes at it from the classic Motech angle, adding that Detroit touch for his first remix, while his additional String Mix gives us even more pure Detroit Techno emotion. Where would we be without those sweeping Detroit strings! Mark’s original version of ‘Final Approach’ takes a different direction with deep chords and melody, yet still tough and clubby, bridging the House / Techno sound Mark is known for. Mazepa’s remix takes it further down the tech road, stripped and punchy, giving the chords a resonating quality and placing focus on the drums.
